Wood core R&D

They may never see the light of day as far as production goes but for those interested in all things R&D we are testing some new wood/composite core ideas. Being that some of the woods we are testing are grown in New Zealand (one of the best places to grow trees in the world!), they are environmentally friendly, and less toxic to work with, it will be exciting to find out how our ideas perform/hold up. Anyway we will keep you posted if it works out..

The NZ season kickoff

It is the time of year in New Zealand where there seems to be just non stop wind everyday, so our 07 boards have been getting plenty of use - and the feedback has been awesome(putting together testimonials page very soon). There are 115 stoked riders on dvnt boards now - from which we have had no bad feedback - in fact the very reverse - just riders that have told us that they really are stoked by how our boards ride.

Well summer is kicking in here soon - it might not be board shorts weather yet - but we don't care about cold southerlies - just as long as it stays this windy.

DVNT Cook Islands Trip 06

Well before 5 days ago it was all good - wind every day and some AWESOME spots sessioned. Just the most beautiful spots you could ever imagine; however, on the last day I got what was food poisoning or a parasite (results soon) that put everything in life into comparison.

Sure I have had doses of Bali Belly and what have you, but this was to give me 4 days of absolute hell on earth. Crawled off the plane at Auckland and straight to hospital where they want to stick a drip in me. Then they lost one sample of my blood for testing and when they finally found it they kindly rang me to say that they were concerned with the results... mmm nice. Breaking my arm ,collar bone, and shoulder hurt a fraction of what this did. It feels soooooooooooo good to be on the mend

So have uploaded some photos to gallery at www.dvntkiteboarding.com to show the good times

OK today we launch the 07 website. We have been holding tight until we had everything in stock ready and available and today our new accessories arrived so it is all go.

This year we are very excited about the increasing popularity of our products which has pretty much been as a result of word of mouth recommendations. We are also stoked to introduce to you our 07 equipment and website which are looking and riding better than ever. Our new hoodies and t shirts (softgoods) have already been selling really well before even showing them available on our new website which is good news!

First of 07 stock boards available now

We have our first stock of boards available now. We will be adding Windscene as a retailer this year so be sure to pop into Windscene in Barry's Point Road , Auckland if you are in the area to check them out. It was great to see such a good representation of riders ripping their dvnt boards at the kiteworks Moose meet this weekend. It was an alltime weekend and the conditions were soooo sick, we are not sure if it was all a dream or not....

Surf fins/ Extra Wave tip model 07 info

We now have stock of 2.5" surf style fins. 2 of these these will be supplied with the new wave tip model to add to the end of the board as per your prefered stance (either goofy/natural/toeside/you can change easily to suit wave you are riding easily ). The other end will be supplied with 2" wake fins. You can also buy these fins individually.

The wave tip enables the rider to go out slightly less powered than the equivalent Quest twin tip - so riders can use a bit less kite and a bit more wave power. It has a narrower nose and tail to help the rider really attack and carve up the wave. The 2.5" fins on your prefered end also increase the bite into the wave face. The design idea came from wanting a wave board that did not need gybing or a toeside/healside style of riding (it rides like a twintip either way). Also we wanted a wave board that would let you ease off the power when you need to - something that is not always so easy with a mutant or surfboard. A side product of the design is that it also handles difficult chop very well.

Retailers looking to buy our boards

The good news for you is that by buying dvnt boards you will be able to compete on price more favourably as the NZ dollar is very weak after a 3 years of being very strong. Our product is New Zealand made and developed in the greatest place for testing kiteboards on earth (Varied conditions of ALL types all of the time).

First pictures of 07 boards

These are the first photos of the "Quest" 07 twin tip. Available in around 4 weeks time. (Click on picture for closer look.)
Sizes: 124*37 128*38 132*39 and 142*40
"One of our new 2007 range of boards, we present the 'Quest' freeride and freestyle series. This year we have upped the game and added an awesome scratch proof full colour high gloss finish to our already widely respected kiteboards. The Quest series is designed to be easy and comfortable to ride (very smooth edging) in all conditions, minimising drag (for increased wind range and speed) while maintaining GENUINE pop (Ie if you load the rail this board will give it back). We achieved this by minimising the rocker, having no concave/channels, by only having a minimal flex to absorb chop, gusts, hard landings and of course with the help of our unique and very tough sidewall construction."

Girls board 2007

We are going to be producing a girls board for 2007. To be known as the "Stellar" it will be available in 124*37 and the stance width and width between the insert holes narrow. This size is an allround winner and we hope to show the girls the benefits of having a board to suit. The graphics will be gloss white with a stunning abstract illustration of life on a tropical island (with wind of course).

We had an idea...

This is the DVNT kiteboarding blog - it is designed to help keep retailers and customers informed as to what is going on at dvnt kiteboarding. Our main website (http://www.dvntkiteboarding.com) is still the main point of contact and will continue to be updated; however, this site will contain more detail about the every day goings on to hopefully enable more effective communication - because it is so quick and easy to update.
