dvnt Newsletter Jan 2009

Happy new year , just bring us more wind please. It is all good being warm and sunny but after a while with no decent wind that is quite enough.

Maybe teamrider/ripper Hendrick Gavelle jinxed the wind due to fracturing his neck at about the time it disappeared (doing a mobe in very shallow water -head first). Well Hendrick seems to be well on the mend probably just in time for the return of decent wind! Carry on healing fast.

Respect goes out to teamrider Mike Cann for recently going to the aid of a drowned jetskier at Muriwai (NZ), sadly the rider did not make it; however, not without a huge effort from all those involved. Be safe.

We will be checking out Rottnest Island off the coast of Western Australia very soon, and also Melbourne so look forward to reporting back all about their riding potential.

We have the NZ Nationals coming up from the 5th to the 8th Feb 2009 in Christchurch, and it will be great to see if dvnt teamrider Rachel can defend her nationals freestle title.

For 2009 we offer these tried and tested shapes

132 x39 Remains our top seller as it has proven itself to be so ideally designed for easy handling of New Zealand's varied conditions

131x40 / 133x41 / 135x40 tried and tested wake style shapes, wide stances, with footstrap and /or binding inserts designed for more wakestyle focused freestylers

We still offer a custom shape service

dvnt softgoods ie clothing

We will be printing a whole variety of new t shirts and hoodies very soon with a more broad range of full colour prints available. We will continue to focus on dvnt on being an allround board riding brand as kitesurfing is just one of many board sports that dvnt represents. As well as being obssesive kiteboarders our teamriders are also into surfing, snowboarding, towsurfing, skateboarding, wakeboarding and of course travel - what could be better?

Thankyou to all our customers and teamriders for 2008 -2009, in helping us to build awareness of dvnt. Have an inspiring and fun 2009.

In October we will begin building new batches of our New Zealand made kiteboards for the new season.

We have had zero breakages of our kiteboards for the last 2 seasons, which has even surprised us considering that most dvnt riders tend to be into kitelooping. That does not mean they are not guaranteed to break mind you - send us any board and I guarantee we can break it! There is no such thing as an unbreakable kiteboard whatever anyone tells you.

Part of our success is our kiteboard construction that has been refined over 6 years. No other kiteboard company uses the methods we use.

What sets us apart in our freestyle kiteboards is that we use a core that is not only waterproof, it is also very lightweight. The result is a strong lightweight kiteboard that is not susceptable to water damage and delamination as a result of water getting to the core. Our core choice is the same core as used in Formula One racing cars, NASA spacecraft and America's Cup Yachts.

If you are interested in Pre ordering a New Zealand made dvnt kiteboard for the new season (October onwards) please let us know as soon as possible as we have limited stock of materials right now, so it is first come first served. We aim to manufacture approx 40 kiteboards a year for the New Zealand market as we have done for the past few years.

Unfortunately they have been too expensive to export for the last 2 years due to:
-the exchange rate
-the amount we spend on making them (we are very particular about their manufacture)
-the material costs which is higher than other kiteboards on the market ( We use a new PVC crosslinked high density core, carbon, high resolution sublimated high tensile top and base sheet etc.)

Sizes available for new season will be:-

132 x 39 - Our most successful shape ever
A new 135/134x40 (not 100% sure of final length yet)
(We can still offer custom shapes but at extra cost)

We welcome 2 new teamriders Ryan Bickley Hendrick Gavelle who will be featuring in "The DVNT Videoshow 2" in the coming season. I can tell you it will be a big step up from "The DVNT Videoshow 1" (link to it on youtube here)" as this winter has been full on riding madness for the DVNT teamriders.

So yes, don't hesitate to contact me with your preorders or simply to discuss about your next potential kiteboard. 021-861239 09-4276296.

Thanks,

Ian
