In October we will begin building new batches of our New Zealand made kiteboards for the new season.

We have had zero breakages of our kiteboards for the last 2 seasons, which has even surprised us considering that most dvnt riders tend to be into kitelooping. That does not mean they are not guaranteed to break mind you - send us any board and I guarantee we can break it! There is no such thing as an unbreakable kiteboard whatever anyone tells you.

Part of our success is our kiteboard construction that has been refined over 6 years. No other kiteboard company uses the methods we use.

What sets us apart in our freestyle kiteboards is that we use a core that is not only waterproof, it is also very lightweight. The result is a strong lightweight kiteboard that is not susceptable to water damage and delamination as a result of water getting to the core. Our core choice is the same core as used in Formula One racing cars, NASA spacecraft and America's Cup Yachts.

If you are interested in Pre ordering a New Zealand made dvnt kiteboard for the new season (October onwards) please let us know as soon as possible as we have limited stock of materials right now, so it is first come first served. We aim to manufacture approx 40 kiteboards a year for the New Zealand market as we have done for the past few years.

Unfortunately they have been too expensive to export for the last 2 years due to:
-the exchange rate
-the amount we spend on making them (we are very particular about their manufacture)
-the material costs which is higher than other kiteboards on the market ( We use a new PVC crosslinked high density core, carbon, high resolution sublimated high tensile top and base sheet etc.)

Sizes available for new season will be:-

132 x 39 - Our most successful shape ever
A new 135/134x40 (not 100% sure of final length yet)
(We can still offer custom shapes but at extra cost)

We welcome 2 new teamriders Ryan Bickley Hendrick Gavelle who will be featuring in "The DVNT Videoshow 2" in the coming season. I can tell you it will be a big step up from "The DVNT Videoshow 1" (link to it on youtube here)" as this winter has been full on riding madness for the DVNT teamriders.

So yes, don't hesitate to contact me with your preorders or simply to discuss about your next potential kiteboard. 021-861239 09-4276296.

Thanks,

Ian

dvnt Teamrider Rachel Cann wins NZ Nationals title

Congratulations to dvnt Teamrider Rachel Cann on taking a well deserved first place in the 2008 NZ Nationals. The lightwind conditions were very challenging with a high degree of fitness in order to be able to run back up the beach to perform tricks. And all this after practising on a 4m kite in well above 30 knots in Perth! Well done.

Email to dvnt

I took delivery of my new 2008 DVNT kiteboard with the "plug-in" graphics, a couple of weeks ago and I am totally thrilled with my new board.

I started kitesurfing with an expensive international brand name kiteboard and struggled in progressing as a learner to a half decent rider. Andy from Katapolt Kitesurfing loaned me his older 128 X 36.5 (board on the right) DVNT board and in just a few sessions I was able to carve up wind and generally spend more time on the board than in the water. In other words turn my frustrations into hours of fun on the water. A couple of weeks ago I received my new board from Ian at DVNT, a 2008 125 X 38 board. Within two session on the water I am now popping some great jumps.....and landing them. Showing off on the toeside rail and just having a ball. In Gisborne we have some big surf days and when the wind is from the south it can hit 3o knots pretty easy and quite often. This board just loves these conditions. Apart from Andy's great teaching, selecting the right size board for your weight/kitesurfing experience is very important. It can mean the difference between a great day on the water pushing your limits and learning new tricks or just getting more and more frustrated while those around you rip the surf up. If you are in the market for a new kiteboard, don't waste your time or money looking at all the different brands out there, just head straight to DVNT and ask for Ian!

NZ Made

Thanks to New Zealand Made (Government funded initiative) who supported dvnt kiteboards by publishing an article about us.

It has been published in print.

We have had an increase of customers wanting custom kiteboards recently as well as our production shapes which is great.

We were thinking about this the other day. We think that dvnt kiteboards probably get more use than any other brand of kiteboard. If you measured average hours on the water for a dvnt kiteboard it would be way above any other board brand....? Sadly Mike Cann recently left one of his his teamrider kiteboard( 85kg+ rider board 132x42 ) at Woodmans Point in Perth, that he had been kiteloop abusing for almost 3 years. We have sorted him out with a replacement which he says he is stoked on (an o8 profile 132 x 42)

The recent stormriding sessions were super fun (a huge front with 40+ knot winds and a huge swell just passed over NZ for 4 or 5 days) with huge boosting and wave riding back on the map after a big summer surge in interest in freestyle (probably because it was simply too windy to unhook.)

We are also thinking of building the dvnt clothing brand with its own website etc as so many board riders like the brand but do not necessarily ride a dvnt kiteboard. Some of you may not know that the teamriders, although kiteboarding obsessed, are also talented surfers and snowboarders, also with a big interest in tow surfing and anything else related. Anyway let us know if you have any comment on this.

2 weeks extra daylight savings this year - oh yeah! Thanks NZ government.

Buy New Zealand.

Buy New Zealand, formed by a government initiative to encourage New Zealanders to put more $$ back in to the NZ economy by buying New Zealand made, has asked dvnt kiteboarding to write an article about dvnt for their print and web media. We would like to say thanks for helping us out and be sure to check out their website. http://www.buynz.org.nz

We will put a link to the article when it is published. In the meantime you find New Zealand made stickers on all dvnt kiteboards.

Manufacturing underway for first batch of dvnt 08 freestyle kiteboards.

Yes, we have boards to sell at last. We put so much time and effort into making sure we produced the very best kiteboards possible for freestyle riding and we are sure you will agree it was worth it.

This is the only board we know of designed specifically with freestyle kiteboarding in mind, and it uses a new core that we have been secretly working on for some time that in combination with carbon gives it the sickest pop of any board we have ever ridden.

So whether you are busting out unhooked moves, or simply throwing down or learning hooked in moves, if you are looking to progress your freestyle riding, this board is designed to make your freestyle riding easier and better.

New Boards

We have manufactured a few more of our new freestyle boards; however, still do not have any stock left over to sell. Hopefully soon. If you see one while out riding (gloss black and green fly graphic or RCA sounds graphic), be sure to ask to borrow it and take it for a spin. Designed specifically to meet the needs of the freestyle rider - we are real happy how completely stoked owners of this new model have been!
Canterbury (New Zealand) Championships 21/01/08

dvnt riders James Everett and Ian Collenette travelled down to the south island to take part in the Canterbury Championships in Christchurch last weekend that included riders from as far away as Nelson, Whangarei, Auckland and Dunedin. The event had probably the most perfect conditions a New Zealand kitesurfing competition has ever seen, with 18 knots and flat water for Saturdays Freestyle comp and 25-30 knots for Sundays wave (big surf) and hangtime comp.

Ian was stoked to get through to the semi final heat of the freestyle competition. This was a totally epic weekend of riding, and thanks go to our great hosts. If you get the chance check this event out next year for sure - it rocks.

We got this cool email from Brian Walters who had customized his dvnt board.

"I've been living in Florida for almost 6 months now. Over the last exams I was really itching for my trip to Puerto Rico and decided to ease the pain by doing up my DVNT board. I'm pretty stoked with how it turned out - see attached photo."

dvnt Freestyle board

Back from Perth - what awesome kitesurfing spot - go there!

The replacement for the 07 Quest freestyle board is still on the way. There are a few out in the wild now but we still have a very small(but very annoying) problem to overcome before we can go into making larger batches of these boards. Well we will keep you updated and hopefully it will get sorted asap because I know we have been messing some of you around about when they will be ready and for that we are very sorry.
