Manufacturing underway for first batch of dvnt 08 freestyle kiteboards.

Yes, we have boards to sell at last. We put so much time and effort into making sure we produced the very best kiteboards possible for freestyle riding and we are sure you will agree it was worth it.

This is the only board we know of designed specifically with freestyle kiteboarding in mind, and it uses a new core that we have been secretly working on for some time that in combination with carbon gives it the sickest pop of any board we have ever ridden.

So whether you are busting out unhooked moves, or simply throwing down or learning hooked in moves, if you are looking to progress your freestyle riding, this board is designed to make your freestyle riding easier and better.

New Boards

We have manufactured a few more of our new freestyle boards; however, still do not have any stock left over to sell. Hopefully soon. If you see one while out riding (gloss black and green fly graphic or RCA sounds graphic), be sure to ask to borrow it and take it for a spin. Designed specifically to meet the needs of the freestyle rider - we are real happy how completely stoked owners of this new model have been!
Canterbury (New Zealand) Championships 21/01/08

dvnt riders James Everett and Ian Collenette travelled down to the south island to take part in the Canterbury Championships in Christchurch last weekend that included riders from as far away as Nelson, Whangarei, Auckland and Dunedin. The event had probably the most perfect conditions a New Zealand kitesurfing competition has ever seen, with 18 knots and flat water for Saturdays Freestyle comp and 25-30 knots for Sundays wave (big surf) and hangtime comp.

Ian was stoked to get through to the semi final heat of the freestyle competition. This was a totally epic weekend of riding, and thanks go to our great hosts. If you get the chance check this event out next year for sure - it rocks.

We got this cool email from Brian Walters who had customized his dvnt board.

"I've been living in Florida for almost 6 months now. Over the last exams I was really itching for my trip to Puerto Rico and decided to ease the pain by doing up my DVNT board. I'm pretty stoked with how it turned out - see attached photo."

dvnt Freestyle board

Back from Perth - what awesome kitesurfing spot - go there!

The replacement for the 07 Quest freestyle board is still on the way. There are a few out in the wild now but we still have a very small(but very annoying) problem to overcome before we can go into making larger batches of these boards. Well we will keep you updated and hopefully it will get sorted asap because I know we have been messing some of you around about when they will be ready and for that we are very sorry.

Video section

Added a video on how to easily install dvnt footpads and footstraps. After watching this it will take you about half the time and a quarter of the stress.

Holiday

A huge thanks to everyone that supported us for 2007. It has been an all time good summer season in NZ so far for good wind.

We are on holiday until the 7th of January, where we will be taking a few of the new boards for a spin in Perth. There are also a few of the new boards knocking around in NZ right now. If you are lucky enough to see them ask if you can take them for a spin.

We have quite a few on back order so don't want to put info about them online until we have them ready to sell to anyone else reading about them.

If you already approached us about a new board - you are on the waiting list. Very sorry for taking longer than we thought for making boards available. It will all be well worth the wait judging from the absolutely awesome feedback so far.

Sunday, December 09, 2007

It has been constant easterlies, what better time to test out the most recent prototypes. In fact the latest prototype IS GOING TO BE PRODUCTION after simply unbelievable feedback from the riders. Our latest tweak provided the final property towards our goal of producing not just good kiteboards, but the best kiteboards available.

Despite the wait, we are sure you will agree the wait is worthwhile when you take the 08 boards for a spin.

We will update when we have the first batch of 08 boards available, together with pricing etc. Not long now.

Zero compromise on quality.

Facebook

dvnt now has a Facebook page just search "dvnt kiteboarding" and add yourself as a friend. Check out photos, vid links, info, and of course the other friends of dvnt - always interesting to find someone you know once removed or lost contact with.
Quick Update 3/12/07

08 accessories are ready. 08 boards ready to go within 2 weeks (If you want one best let us know as preorders almost cover the first batch available). The feedback from riders testing the latest prototype has been unbelievable. Comments such as I could drop a kite size with same sized board as I have now, and "I will take you to the cash machine now" make the development work worthwhile.

We are prototyping another board before we go ahead - such a small change; however, we don't just want a good board, we want the very best available. Zero Compromise on quality.

No compromise on high quaity accessories

We have also been working on new footpads to compliment our very high quality footstraps. Basically we believe that it is worth investing in the highest quality, most comfortable and effective accessories possible. It really effects a riders confidence/enjoyment if a riders feet are flying out of their footstraps, or not comfortable. This pad and strap combination will not be beaten.

-Makes it easier than ever to bolt footstraps onto them - no sweaty forehead or stress
-Moulded footplates - for easy removal
-New more effective shape
-Arch support and toe grips that work very effectively
-Machine shaped with triple density foam (not moulded from one density of foam). Lower and medium density for comfort and higher density to soak up those hard landing as the layers above become compressed
-Uses double the volume of foam that many other footpads available use (for comfort, keeping your feet in the straps, and to soak up hard landing)
-Higher quality high friction (lower oil content once manufactured) EVA foam designed to stay very grippy when wet

Keep you eye out as these should be available in around 2 - 3 weeks time.
08 Boards

What can we say? Well we don't really want to say very much until we are ready with our new products to sell. What we can say is that we have been working hard prototyping some new ideas and doing minor adjustments to our proven board features. End of November is the target right now. It was going to be sooner but we had some new discoveries we want to do more work on.
We are making one off custom boards right now - Just text us if you are interested

So as you probably read there are no more 07 boards left, we sold all we manufactured for the season.

Right now we are making one off customs for those that know what kind of board they like, or want help choosing. eg heavy or light rider, ANY graphics, all around board, wake, light wind, high wind, freestyle, wave, chop,, riding fast - whatever.. we can shape a board you will love with our 5 years experience in shaping a great variety of boards for different riders. You simply won't find a dvnt rider that does not love their board, and as for durability, it is no surprise to see 4 year old dvnt kiteboards still going strong and looking way ahead of their time.

Over the last 5 years we have built a reputation for building great kiteboards that last. The large percentage of dvnt customers have been experienced riders who know exactly what they want in a board/ how it should ride. This has given us the experience to produce a great board for any rider.
Lost and found

So a dvnt kiteboard gets away from its owner in the Manukau and is found on Piha beach and returned to its owner. Then it is lost again and this time found up the Waikato river and once again returned. Well there is a good reason to put your phone number on your board right now as it seems the finders first though may not be to put it on trademe - but hey that is another way to get your board back when you spot it on trademe - its been done - you just have to be a bit clever how you do it.

Ever had a non kiter walk off with your pump? I asked where he got it from - he found it on the beach - no hope huh... What next - "I found a kite on the beach"

Thankyou for your feedback

Thanks to everyone that has offered us feedback about our 2007 boards. The response has shown us that our efforts in 2007 to improve our boards even further met expectations.

We continue to focus on producing the best freestyle kiteboards available, and feedback from the riders is an essential part of achieving this.

142*40s Quests will suit anyone
that wants a bit more get up and go with low resistance and early planing. Suited to beginner, intermediate and light wind advanced riders.
____________________________________

Our 132*39 and 128*38s "Quests" are designed as the ultimate freestyle kiteboards specifically for trick riding - which just about everyone that has bought these boards so far has been into.

Their genuine pop (ie you get back worthwhile spring from the board when you load the rail), strength, upwind ability and overall smooth and comfortable ride have been the main factor in their popularity (made in NZ too..)

They are slightly stiffer than most freeride boards which as well as giving them genuine pop will help stop them bending out of shape better (helps upwind, planing and maintaining speed - in a freeride board this is the factor used to help slow a freeride board down - not what most freestyle riders want). They are however not totally stiff! They are designed have enough flex to most importantly help damp hard landings, and make the ride more comfortable if you are confronted with chop.

It is a happy medium and our riders tell us we have the feel of our freestyle boards just about right.

Finally our layup was designed to reduce torsional flex. I still have no idea why so many kiteboard companies think it is a good idea to let the back corner and hence the fin of the board bend towards you when load/edging. Some even thin out towards the corners with layered thicknesses that I can only guess are to make them try and look cool - But this is doing the exact opposite of what the board is trying to achieve for you (ie helping going up wind, helping load genuine pop, and helping effective damping of the board by slight bending lengthways (not torsionally).

Anyway our layup is doing the exact opposite of this (any flex is not so torsional) I guess this is one of the reasons we get good feedback on the features of our boards that this results in.

The best way to find out about one of our boards in to take one for a spin - so you can either ask a generous owner for a go on theirs when you see one around of just contact me (ian) and I will see if I can get a demo board to you.

NEW dvnt footpads in stock

dvnt footpads and straps are the highest quality on the market. They retain their shape, are more comfortable than a spa after a winter session, have heaps of cushioning, and really lock in.

Always looking to improve our products- after testing, we have added a toe grip to all our footpads, and this will feature on all future boards produced. This adds a very effective extra mechanical bond between your feet and your board to combat those moments when you are super powered and your board may just fly off your feet. Not a good look and not fun! (well sometimes funny... :-) ) Being well connected to your kiteboard is for sure a big key factor in confident riding.

dvnt rider take 2nd in NZ Nationals

Congratulations to dvnt board rider Rachael Cann (dvnt 123*38 narrow stance board) for scoring 2nd place in the New Zealand kiteboarding nationals. A record number of women entered this year and Rachael took womans kiteboarding in New Zealand to a new level by amongst other things landing unhooked kiteloops, sbends and surface passes cleanly during her heats.
